Effect of acclimatization rate on biogas production from anaerobic digestion of biodiesel waste products

نویسندگان

چکیده

Digester acclimatization can improve the efficiency of anaerobic digestion (AD), a potentially sustainable process for generating biogas from biological decomposition organic byproducts biodiesel production. This study examined impact rate on production and conversion in laboratory digesters using inocula wastewater treatment plant digester an agro-industrial waste digester. The results showed that co-digestion crude glycerol at high loading rates, up to 6.8 g chemical oxygen demand (COD) L−1 day−1, is possible without addition other substrates or pretreatment. Higher rates were achieved than digester, indicating inoculum with similar physical characteristics may be most appropriate AD waste. Of two studied, slower improved cumulative both inocula. Both also exhibited higher maximum daily efficiencies acclimatization, average yield 621 mL g−1 COD added. implied ability adapt efficiently new substrate.

2. Production of Biogas by Anaerobic Digestion

Anaerobic digestion is a natural process in which bacteria convert organic materials into biogas. It occurs in marshes and wetlands, and in the digestive tract of ruminants. The bacteria are also active in landfills where they are the principal process degrading landfilled food wastes and other biomass. Biogas can be collected and used as a potential energy resource. The process occurs in an an...

Two-Staged Wet Anaerobic Digestion of Landfill Leachate and Organic Waste: The Effect of Organic Waste Type on Biogas Production

In this study, five different experiments were conducted over a period of 170 days to produce biogas by using a variety of mixtures of organic materials and landfill leachate. The aim of this study is to develop a more robust two-stage biogas plant that can accept a wide spectrum of waste products and continue to function without any malfunction. The facility has 5m3 total digester volume, with...

The effect of cefazolin on biogas production from thermophilic and mesophilic anaerobic co-digestion of dairy manure and waste milk

* Corresponding author ([email protected]) Abstract: Antibiotic residues in animal waste from concentrated animal feeding operations are of considerable concern because of the potential development of antibiotic resistant bacteria in the environment and the effect of these residues on manure treatment systems. The objective of this study was to determine the effect of cefazolin (10 mg L) dur...
